A COUPLE are opening their beautiful gardens in Seaford to boost funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Susan and Tony Luckin own High Trees in Firle Road, Seaford.

The event is on Saturday 30th June from 11.30am until 4.30pm.

Cost for adults is £6, inclusive of tea and cake, and children can go in free.

Guests will be able to enjoy a wander around the gardens and stunning woodland before enjoying hot drinks and sweet treats.

There will also be plants and books for sale and a raffle.

The couple have been opening their garden annually since 2013, raising funds for other charitable initiatives including Seaford in Bloom, The Mayor’s Trail and the National Garden Scheme.

This year, Susan wanted to support Alzheimer’s Research UK in memory of her mother, Daisy, who lived with dementia and passed away last year after celebrating her 100th birthday.

She said: “Living with dementia is a terrible disease which affects not only the individual but their whole family.

“By opening our garden and raising money, we hope to contribute to vital research which will one day cure this awful illness.”

All proceeds will go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, which powers world class studies focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatments for dementia.

There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, one in three people over 65 in the UK will die with some form of the condition.
