TEN fire engines have been called after a fire broke out in the roof of an office block.
Firefighters from both East Sussex and West Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to the block in Perrymount Road in Haywards Heath at 3.15am this morning.
The crews have been battling the flames in the roof space overnight, and remain at the scene this morning.
They were alerted after smoke was seen rising from the roof, but at first had difficulty pinpointing exactly where the fire was.
Much of the building is now smoke logged, and crews have been cutting away through the roof and damping down this morning.
Police have closed the B2028 Perrymount Road from between the junction with Heath Road up to the junction with Clair Road until at least 9am.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We’ve still got crews dealing with a building fire in Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath.
“While the incident is being scaled down from 10 to 4 appliances roads are still affected and it is best to avoid the area.”
