TWO cars have been severely damaged in an arson attack.

The suspect first set fire to a black car and the flames also spread to a red car parked next to it.

A person wearing a black hoody and grey tracksuit bottoms is reported to have burnt the car before running away from the scene.

The incident happened today (Monday, May 14) at 12.24am in Woburn Place, Brighton.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "The incident is being treated as arson, and anyone with any information is asked to report it online at sussex.police.uk/appealresponse or call 101 quoting serial 19 of 14/05.

A Sussex Fire spokesman said: "Firefighters from Brighton attended a car fire today at 12.20am.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire."
