ROYAL fever has spread to the south coast as school pupils celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day.

Teachers, parents and children worked tirelessly to set up special parties as the prince marries his princess in Windsor today.

Children came dressed in their best to attend the royal wedding party, and to wish Prince Harry and Meghan a very happy future together.

Youngsters at Young Friends Nursery, in Holland Road, Hove, celebrated the special occasion with a garden party.

Lucas Fisher, three, said: “I like the royal wedding because there are lots of parties.

“I think Prince Harry looks really smart. I think there will be lots of yummy cakes and biscuits.”

When The Argus asked Lucas where he thought the royal couple would live, he believed the pair will live in a fairytale tree house.

Joey Roche, four, said: “I like Harry and Meghan. Harry has the same hair colour like me. I think they will live in a big castle.”

Buddy Roche, three, said: “I think there will be parties as far as Australia.

“I think they will live in a great big house, and in a big castle.”

Louise Lloyd-Evans, owner and manager, said: “We thought it was really important to host this party because it’s such a massive event in the country and we don’t want the kids to miss out.

“We asked them not to come dressed as Disney characters because we want to encourage them to be more creative.

“Royal weddings don’t happen all the time so we hope the children can look back and remember they have also taken part in the celebrations.”

The “royal wedding planner”, Alex Soare, said: “It took us two days to prepare everything.

“All teachers and the children were delegated with tasks such as cutting and hanging the bunting, preparing the catering and getting tables, chairs and other decorations organised.

“I’m really excited about the wedding. I will be watching it on television. Royal weddings are special occasions and I don’t want to miss out.”

Students at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Church Road, Portslade, decorated their school in blue, red and white.

“Prince Harry” and “Meghan” walked their wedding procession at the school Pupil Adia Cavalli-Saleh, ten, said: “I’m really excited about the wedding. It’s very nice. I want to watch it on telly. I really love the party here.”

Lily Stamakis, seven, said: “I think the royal wedding would be really fun. I like Harry and Meghan.”

Demasius Fikri, 11, said: “My family will be celebrating the wedding. We are going to have a party of our own.”

Year 5 teacher Helen Julian, who was “Meghan”, said: “I’ve had an amazing time and I’m just so thrilled to be marrying my Prince Charming.

“The guests have been lovely and the helpers for the wedding didn’t let me down.”

Year 1 teacher Carl Jendre, who was “Harry”, said: “I’m very excited to have married my gorgeous bride, and she just stole the show.”

Children at Strawberry Hill in Grantham Road, Brighton, also took part with a party.

Manager Zara Leigh, said: “We’ve been preparing for a week. We made bunting, little crowns, and we decorated the school with blue, red and white.

“The kids thought our deputy manager Meghan was marrying Prince Harry.

They thought she was going to be a princess.”

Meghan Delany said: “I had to explain to the kids I’m not marrying Prince Harry.

It was very cute they thought I was going to live in a castle.”
