The Premier League season may be over for Albion but three of their players are still involved in the climax to the domestic campaign.

The play-off finals take place at Wembley over the Bank Holiday weekend and the Seagulls have an interest in each of them.

Andy Naylor reports on the future prospects for Oliver Norwood, Richie Towell and Jordan Maguire-Drew.

Name: Oliver Norwood

Age: 27

Position: Central midfield

Albion background: The Northern Ireland international (below right) was signed from Reading on a free transfer in August 2016 after Albion missed out on automatic promotion from the Championship and then in the play-offs.

The Argus: The much-travelled former Manchester United trainee helped them go one better, making 16 starts and 17 substitute appearances in the 2016-17 promotion campaign.

Albion contract: Norwood's deal does not expire until next summer.

Loan club: Fulham.

Play-off final: Championship versus Aston Villa, Wembley, Saturday May 26 (5pm).

How has the loan gone: The proven Championship performer has thrived again in the second tier at Craven Cottage.

He has made 36 league appearances and, having not scored for Albion, popped up with five goals including the winner at Middlesbrough in January for Slavisa Jokanovic's free-flowing side.

What does the future hold: Norwood will not be part of Albion's plans for their second season in the Premier League.

It is unclear whether Fulham will be interested if they go up after Albion rejected a bid to make the move permanent during the January transfer window.

Nearly all of Norwood's appearances for Fulham since then have been from the bench.

Name: Richie Towell

Age: 26

Position: midfield/number ten

Albion background: The former Celtic prospect was signed from Dundalk on a pre-contract agreement in November 2015 as Albion pushed for promotion during Chris Hughton's first full season as manager.

The Argus: The Dubliner (above) scored 29 goals for Dundalk in their double-winning season in the League of Ireland and was named player of the year by the Irish PFA.

Other Championship clubs were interested, as well as teams in the US and Turkey.

Albion contract: Towell was "shocked" to be awarded a new deal at the end of the 2016/17 season. He is under contract until next summer.

Loan club: Rotherham United.

Play-off final: League One versus Shrewsbury, Wembley, Sunday May 27 (3pm).

How has the loan gone: Towell has played a big part in Rotherham's bid to return to the Championship at the first attempt.

He has been a regular for the team managed by Paul Warne, with former Albion striker Richie Barker as his assistant.

Towell has made 45 appearances for the Millers, contributing six goals and the assists for both in Rotherham's 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals. They won the home leg 2-0 to book their place at Wembley.

What does the future hold: Towell has only made one league appearance for Albion, ironically at Rotherham, as a late sub in March 2017. He scored his only senior goal for the Seagulls in their FA Cup exit at Lincoln two months earlier.

It is hard to see Towell featuring in Hughton's Premier League plans in the final year of his contract.

If Rotherham go up, a permanent move to the South Yorkshiremen in the Championship could appeal.

Name: Jordan Maguire-Drew

Age: 20

Position: Winger

Albion background: The Crawley-born prospect has been at the club since the age of eight, signing his first pro contract as an 18-year-old.

He had free-scoring loan spells with Worthing and Dagenham and Redbridge.

Maguire-Drew (below) has been loaned out again twice more this season to aid his development, first to Lincoln where he made 13 appearances and was supposed to be for the duration of the season until a torn thigh muscle sidelined him for two months.

The Argus: He linked up with Coventry in January.

Albion contract: Ends June 2019.

Loan club: Coventry City.

Play-off final: League Two versus Exeter, Wembley, Monday May 28 (3pm).

How has the loan gone: It started with a bang. He made his debut in a shock FA Cup third round victory against Stoke.

The terms of the loan prevented him playing against Albion in the fifth round at the Amex.

Maguire was then hit by appendicitis and suffered complications during surgery, when the stomach muscles were damaged.

He made the last of his four appearances for Coventry in January but has returned to contention as an unused substitute in the last three games, including both legs of the play-off semi-final against Notts County.

What does the future hold: His progress has been halted this season by two severe injuries. Albion will have to decide whether to keep a close eye on him next season with the under-23s or loan him out again.
