A SIGNED photo of World Cup winning hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst is among the items at an auction helping families affected by cancer.

To celebrate national Local Radio Day on Friday, May 25 Seahaven FM will be holding a 12 hour on-air auction to fundraise for a polegate based charity, Children with Cancer Fund.

Ryan Millns, Seahaven FM’s drive time DJ who organised the event said: “It’s important that we give something back to the people who support us by listening all year round.

“We chose this particular charity because we want to reach out and help those families that are really suffering and going through an unimaginable time in their lives.

The auction will start at 7am with one item on the hour being auctioned until 7pm.

The lots include a signed, framed photo of football star Geoff Hirst, jewellery worth £200, and a blue tooth speaker.

Chris Downton, chairman of Children with Cancer Fund said: “We are really grateful to Seahaven FM.

“When people offer to fundraise for us it’s just mind blowing.

“The fact that others believe in the work we do is wonderful.”

One of the things the charity do is provide days out and ‘wishes’ to children and families affected by cancer.

Mother of six, Tammy Kincaid from Peacehaven said: “My eldest daughter Yaz got her cancer at 14 years old.

“We were told by Brighton hospital that there was a local charity helping families to make memories and offer a chance to meet other children and families in the same situation.

“We have fun days out, as well as coffee mornings which give us a chance to talk about our own experiences of cancer and help us not feel so alone.

“It’s like a massive family, and now Yaz will be working with the charity.”

People can take part in the auction by turning into Seahaven FM 96.3 or be listening online.
