Today's pictures show a couple of royal visits to Sussex in the 60s.

The King and Queen of Thailand are pictured here disembarking an aircraft having arrived at Gatwick.

Bhumibol Adulyadej was the King of Thailand from 1946 until he died in 2016, making him the world’s longest reigning head of state.

He was served by a total of 30 prime ministers during his time on the throne.

Sirikit was appointed queen regent in 1950, and is now the queen mother of Thailand.

They visited England both in 1960 and 1966 on state trips.

They are also pictured here visiting Seaford in 1966, where they went to the King’s Mead School which has since closed down.

Douglas Hurd, born in 1930 and now known as Lord Hurd of Westwell, is a Conservative politician who served in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major from 1979 to 1995.

He was first elected to Parliament in 1974 as MP for the Mid Oxfordshire constituency.

His first government post was as minister for Europe from 1979 to 1983.

The last government post he held before retiring from frontline politics was foreign secretary between 1989 and 1995.

He is pictured here with Stewart Johnson, who is holding a cardboard cut-out.

He is also shown looking down from the roof of the Brighton Centre in 1988, with PC Tony Omotoza in 1989 and sitting at a table with an unknown man.
