A NEW gay bar is having a grand opening to welcome customers to its new venue.

Infinity Bar, at 129 St James’s Street, Brighton, opened for business last Friday and it has already gained five-star approval from customers.

Owner of the bar, 48-year-old Matthew Haynes, said there will be dazzling performances and offers on grand opening night tomorrow at 6pm.

He said: “With a two-month complete revamp of our space, everything is brand new, from our bar staff, to our floors and ceilings. All the furniture here is custom-made.

“We’re very excited to have our official launch this weekend.

“We have Stephanie performing at 6pm, then we’ll be showcasing the venue for the rest of the weekend.

“We will have cocktail specials, introducing all of our bar staff and the venue in general.

“We want our venue to have a social atmosphere. It’s a place to come with your friends, to socialise and enjoy a very nice environment and to have a good drink.”

Customers shared their reviews on Infinity Bar’s Facebook page.

David McAdam wrote: “My partner and I came to have a look at what you have done to the place.

“Friendly staff and beautiful deco, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere.”

Dean Webster wrote: “A wonderful addition to the area.

“The owners have done an outstanding job in turning this once sad and neglected bar into a cool, vibrant and welcoming space with well-trained friendly staff.”

Mr Haynes was born in Oxford but emigrated to Colorado, in the United States, when he was 12.

He came to live in Brighton last year as he always calls England his home.

When he lived in the US, Mr Haynes set up several successful businesses including a private pilot company and a real estate company which purchases old properties, renovates them and rents or sells them to buyers.

He also runs another bar in Colorado, Club Q, which is the largest gay bar in southern Colorado.

Although Mr Haynes juggles several businesses and needs to travel back to the US every six weeks, he ensures he has enough time for his partner and their two children.
