Now that we have a Duke and Duchess of Sussex could their nephew and heir to the throne Prince George one day complete his education in Brighton?

Speculation has re-surfaced following the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle earlier this month that the young prince could be set to attend Brighton College.

The public school in Eastern Road, Kemp Town, has been slated as the favoured destination for the royal when he leaves his London prep-school age 13.

Brighton College is extremely popular with other parents of children at Prince George’s prep school Thomas’s Battersea in South London.

Brighton College, a co-educational boarding school, would be a break from royal traditional in place of all-male Eton College where Prince George’s father William and Uncle Harry were educated.

A source said: “Sir Winston Churchill’s grandson and Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames sent his daughter to Brighton College and he is good friends with Prince Charles.

“Brighton College is also a bit more touchy feely, which is what the younger royals are, so all these things come together.”

Full boarding at the award-winning school can stretch to £12,730 a term.

Brighton College was described as “Britain’s most forward thinking school” by The Week magazine and head master Richard

Cairns has previously been named England’s Headmaster of the Year by Tatler magazine.

Academic results consistently place Brighton College among the top ten schools for boys and girls in England, with many going to Oxford and Cambridge.

The latest speculation follows rumours that were first reported in October last year.

George’s mother Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, went to Marlborough College, also a co-ed boarding school.

A source told the Sunday Times: “The word on the street is that his parents want co-education and boarding when he leaves prep school.”

Headmaster Richard Cairns said: “It is important that Prince George just be allowed to get on and enjoy his current excellent school in London.

“There is plenty of time ahead for his parents to consider possible secondary schools – though obviously we would be delighted if he and his siblings were one day to come to Brighton.”

George’s sister Charlotte has started nursery school – while new baby brother Louis, who was born in April, is still a way off learning his first words.
