A motorcyclist has died in hospital after being injured in a road crash.

Police, paramedics, and the air ambulance were sent to the village of Hooe on the A259 to the west of Bexhill yesterday.

The 55-year-old motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after a crash with a car on the coast road at the junction of Barnhorn Road and Green Lane at 8.20am.

He was flown to the Kings College Hospital in London, but died of his injuries.

Meanwhile a 41-year-old driver was also injured in the crash, and was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.

The crashed caused the closure of the road from the roundabout at Wallsend, Pevensey to Little Common, Bexhill. Green Lane and nearby Coneyburrow Lane were also shut to traffic.

Anyone who saw the crash or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact the police online or call 101 and quote Operation Cairngorn.
