THE Duchess of Cornwall told how she used to love swimming at Seaford when a top fundraiser met her.

Geoff Stonebanks met Camilla after being invited to Buckingham Palace and took his mother to the garden party, where they met the royals.

Geoff opted to take his 91-year-old mother Barbara Stonebanks and the pair had an amazing day.

He said: “We could not believe our luck in being able to chat with several members of the Royal Family.

“Both Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall stopped to speak to us.”

“Camilla said she was drawn over by Barbara’s hat and Charles by the fabulous button-hole I had made up with plants from my garden that morning.”

Barbara and Geoff were able to shake hands with them both which made their day. Chatting to Camilla they were asked where they were from and Geoff said Seaford, to which Camilla said how much she had enjoyed bathing off Seaford beach in her childhood as they lived in Newick. Towards the end of the afternoon, the pair also got to chat with The Princess Royal, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Duke of Kent. And lo and behold both Camilla and Charles said hello to them both again remarking “hello again”. A great day out, and recognition for Geoff for raising almost £100,000 for charity.

Geoff has had a trio of amazing events in his tenth year of opening his garden and fundraising for local charities.

Back in January he met Prince Charles at a reception for Macmillan Cancer Support, and last month he was awarded the Don Mabey award by the Mayor of Seaford for outstanding services to the Town of Seaford.

Then on Tuesday he had an invite to a Royal Garden party and the chance to talk to the royals.
