THREE men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the neck with a bottle last night.

A brawl erupted between four men at the Co-Op store in Hangleton at 5.30pm and the shop was closed to customers.

A 33-year-old man was attacked with a broken beer bottle and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with lacerations to his head, neck and arm, though the injuries are not life-threatening.

Two men from Hove, both 33, and a 28-year-old man from Worthing were arrested on suspicion of causing affray and are currently in police custody.

One of the 33-year-old men was also arrested for causing distress after using racially aggravated language.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to a report of a fight at the Co-Op store in Hangleton Road, Hove, at 5.30pm on Monday.

"Two men went into the shop and started an altercation with another man.

"During the fight one of the men, a 33-year-old, was stabbed in the neck with a broken beer bottle.

"He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with lacerations to his head, neck and arm. His injuries were not life-threatening.

"Extensive damage was caused to the shop during the incident.

"Two men from Hove both aged 33 and a 28-year-old man from Worthing were arrested on suspicion of causing affray and are currently in police custody.

"One of the 33-year-old men was also arrested for causing distress after using racially aggravated language."

She added that police are not looking for any witnesses in connection with the incident.
