A RAIL passenger says he feels sickened after being “ogled” by a man who looked up his shorts as he slept.

The passenger, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was travelling from Brighton to London.

He said the older man was wearing tight-fitting shorts and a sports jacket.

He reportedly looked up the passenger’s shorts and made grunting noises.

The victim also claimed the man spread his legs – so he then asked him to move elsewhere on the train.

Speaking to The Argus, the victim said: “As the train pulled away an older man sat next to my friends.

“We thought it was strange as there were a lot of other seats free.

“I was a little drunk and fell asleep.

“As I woke up I saw him trying to look down my shorts.

“Once I saw him, I put my leg down and started to record him on my phone.

“He seemed to be getting off on it and he turned to face me with his legs open to show me his was aroused.

“He then started to make noises.

“That’s when I stopped recording and told him to go and find somewhere else to sit.

“He replied that he would go to the front where there were more seats.”

Later in the journey when the victim went to the toilet, his friends reported that the man had also walked towards the toilet on the train.

He said that he tried to find a guard on board to report the suspicious behaviour but that there was no one around.

The alleged incident happened on a service from Brighton to Bedford, via London.

The victim said he has contacted the British Transport Police about what happened.

He added: “I’m not one to let things get to me but the fact he would do such a thing when someone is asleep makes me feel sick.

“Clearly there isn’t a line for him.

“Who’s to say where he would have stopped?

“Luckily it was me this time but next time it might be someone not old enough to know what’s going on.

“I just hope he isn’t doing this to younger people falling asleep on the trains or elsewhere.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers are currently investigating an indecent incident on board a train between Brighton and London Victoria.

“They are conducting a number of enquiries, including seizing CCTV evidence as well as identifying any witnesses.”
