A murder victim’s family say their children are still having nightmares and asking why their father isn’t coming home.

Anthony Williams was killed in a “merciless and bloody” revenge attack in Horsham in September last year.

The 36-year-old was stabbed repeatedly by teenager Nicholas Bridge, while his accomplice Daniel Onofeghare intimidated others to stop them intervening.

In a frenzied and planned attack, the men travelled from London and used one of Mr Williams's friends to enter the flat at Park Way. Three minutes later they were fleeing the blood spattered crime scene.

Bridge had carried out the attack after a reported altercation between Onofeghare and Mr Williams the previous day.

Onofeghare texted a friend to tell them “I got rushed and robbed”, which prosecutors said was the motive for attacking and killing Mr Williams.

So 18-year-old Bridge, of Loughborough Park in Brixton carried out the attack, while Onofeghare, 20, of no fixed address, also forced his way into the flat.

The duo had claimed to be acting in self defence, but their accounts of the events changed throughout the investigation.

Bridge was found guilty of murder while Onofeghare was found guilty of manslaughter last week.

Speaking after the trial, Mr Williams’s family say they are devastated.

In a statement they said: “In the past few months since we have all been living our worst nightmare.

“Our minds are on overdrive, filled with questions that may never fully be answered.

“We have had sleepless nights, constant exhaustion and feel like we will never be okay or the same again.

“We have regular, nightmares as do Tony’s children. How will we explain to his three gorgeous sons how and why their father isn’t here?”

Police said they hope the guilty verdicts will bring some justice for the family.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Heater said: “This was a horrific planned and targeted attack by a teenager and a young man.

“The pair were at the flat for just three minutes and in that time they inflicted an extreme level of violence, leaving the premises before anyone could comprehend what had happened.

“I would like to thank the first responders, forensics and the investigation teams, who brought this to court.

“I would also like to thank those witnesses who were brave enough to come forward and provide their accounts of this horrific crime. Their assistance and continued support was key in securing today’s result.”

Bridge and Onofeghare will be sentenced on Friday, July 13.
