THE Brighton and Hove Green Party has selected its candidates in the Preston Park ward for the May 2019 council elections.

They are current councillor Leo Littman, Green spokesman for environment, transport and sustainability, as well as activist Siriol Hugh-Jones and Amy Heley.

Cllr Littman said: “I am honoured to, once again, be selected to contest Preston Park ward for the Greens. I’ve represented the ward for seven years now and hope that residents will think I have done a good enough job to want to re-elect me.

“I really look forward to working alongside Siriol and Amy, two extremely capable and hardworking running mates, who will both make excellent councillors.”

First-time candidate Siriol said: “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity, if elected, to represent my local community in Preston Park.

“Greens have successfully led the council to commit to end the use of single-use plastics, and have led the way on Brexit, calling on the Government to allow a People’s Vote on the final deal. Only the Greens have the courage and vision to take on the most current and urgent issues of our time.”

Amy Heley, said: “I’m very excited to have been selected as a Green Party candidate for Preston Park and to have the opportunity to represent the community that I have grown up in. In the upcoming local election campaign and beyond, I will strive to be a dedicated and ardent voice for everyone including young people, who are often neglected by politicians, and feel the worst effects of austerity, Brexit, and decisions made by local authorities. I look forward to campaigning for our wonderful city to become more inclusive and sustainable for everyone that calls Brighton and Hove their home.”
