OWNERS of a new shop say UK should legalise cannabis as it would have medicinal benefits for very ill patients.

Shaun Davison and Ryan Cahill, both 31, have opened a new shop, CBD Ethics, which is in George Street, Brighton.

The shop has been open for three months and it sells Cannabidiol products, including hemp tea and coffee, chocolate, oils, skincare, and vapourisers to improve customers’ general wellbeing.

Mr Davison believes there are many medicinal benefits in cannabis and the Government should decriminalise it.

He said: “I think we should legalise the market, but at the same time it should be regulated.

“A lot of people are already taking cannabis but don’t know where their products come from.

“It is beneficial for people who live with a chronic disease or pain.

“If cannabis is regulated and checked, people can trace where their products come from. This makes it safer.

“We consider ourselves as the first CBD specialist shop in the country.

“There’s a lot of negative connotation about cannabis, but there’s been a lot of media coverage on the debate of legalising cannabis so I think it’s worth exploring.

“We pride ourselves in having unique and innovative product range of high-quality legal hemp extracts from leading industry manufacturers and suppliers.”

Mr Davison added he and Mr Cahill started this shop because they wanted to create a space for people to come and buy products in order to improve their wellbeing.

He said: “I used to work in a stressful job and then I discovered hemp tea helped me relax.”

Mr Cahill said: “I had a motorbike accident in 2008 and I was in a lot of pain.

“I had nerve damage, suffered inflammation and had problems in my foot.

“I tried hemp tea and it helped me to relax.”

Mr Davison said: “There are shops that sell CBD products but they don’t specialise in it.

“Our products are sourced locally in South Downs and Chichester.

“There’s already a lot of online competition but customers can feel safe buying products in our shop because it’s traceable.

“We have a different range of customers, including young people who want to quit smoking, and athletes because hemp is protein rich.

“We also have customers looking for things to improve their wellbeing.”
