Three people suffered serious injuries after a multiple car crash on the A29.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Bury Hill near Arundel in West Sussex yesterday.
The crash at 3.50pm involved a silver BMW and silver Vauxhall car travelling south, and a black Land Rover and black Volkswagen travelling north.
Pictures from the scene show the wreckage of two cars around the bend at Bury Hill.
Police closed the road in both directions until 9.30pm and crash scene investigators were called in.
It is understood that firefighters had to cut the casualties out of both of the vehicles.
Now officers are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, including motorists who may have seen the movements of the vehicles involved in the run up to the crash.
They say a BMW driver and the driver and passenger in the Volkswagen suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Anyone with information should contact Sussex Police on 101 or via the force’s website, and quote Operation Holmcroft.
