An armed robber held up a security van outside a High Street bank in Shoreham.

Police has issued a CCTV images of the suspect who carried out the robbery at Santander at 11pm on Tuesday, February 27 this year.

They say the suspect, who is seen clutching a black pistol, approached the security van staff who were loading a cash machine.

He threatened the guard with the gun and forced him to hand over a cash box containing several thousand pounds.

The guard was not injured in the attack.

Police say the robbery is a white man in his 30s, who is 5ft 10ins tall with medium length brown hair. He was wearing a blue hooded jacket.

After grabbing the cash box he ran off. He is believed to have links to Essex, but may also be recognised in Sussex.

Now detectives have issued an appeal to find the suspect after CCTV footage was found, and have launched Operation Graffiti.

Detective Constable Greg Brown said: “We are aware that this incident occurred four months ago but with the new image of the suspect we have been able to release this fresh witness appeal.

“After investigating many lines of enquiry we believe the suspect has links to Essex but if anyone in Sussex recognises the man we urge you to get in contact with us immediately.”

Officers say anyone who saw anything suspicious in Shoreham High Street in the moments before or after the incident are urged to get in contact.

Meanwhile witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 or online and quote Operation Graffiti.
