COUNCIL chiefs have launched a consultation into its latest development plans for the city.

The City Plan Part 2 will go alongside Part 1, with the aim of providing more low-cost homes, improve transport links and health facilities, and boost jobs over the next decade.

Councillor Julie Cattell said is the lead member for planning policy and said the draft for part two is in the early stages of preparation.

She wants residents to get involved with the consultation to make sure the council focuses on high quality and sustainable development.

Cllr Cattell said: “We encourage everyone to share their views on the council’s preferred approach to make sure it reflects the needs of local people.

“Part two is focused on ensuring communities reap the benefits from well-designed development. Crucially it will help new developments provide a variety of housing that offers a choice of good quality and affordable homes to buy or rent.

“Having a complete and up to date local plan is important because it will enable Brighton and Hove to have policies that will carry weight when making planning decisions.”
