UB40

Borde Hill Gardens, Haywards Heath, Saturday, July 7

As part of A Boundless Summer, UB40 will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a glorious outdoor show at Borde Hill Gardens. Since forming in 1978 the legendary masters of reggae-pop have sold over 100 million albums. Despite the band hitting middle age they haven’t slowed up at all. Hits like Red, Red Wine and 1 in 10 are universally recognised and will be sung at full volume in what will hopefully be some spectacular Sussex sunshine. The Surroundings of Borde Hill Gardens are the perfect place to watch this show, and if the sun is out all the better.

Giovanni Pernice

Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, Saturday, July 7

One of the stars of the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, Giovanni Pernice is bringing his solo show, Born to Win, to Sussex this summer. The extensive tour has already seen Giovanni perform in Eastbourne, but of course you can’t just visit Sussex once. Worthing is the lucky host for his second show in the county. Alongside his dance partner, Luba Mushtuk, and a host of backup dancers, Giovanni is expected to pour out the thrills in abundance. Not a man to shy away from the spotlight, you can definitely prepare yourself for a performance that will leave you excited for this year’s season of Strictly.

Martha Reeves and the Vandellas

Concorde 2, Brighton, Saturday, July 7

The Queen of soul and motown returns to Brighton to get the city Dancing in the Street all over again. With a career spanning nearly 60 years Martha Reeves has proved that you’re never too old to give up performing. Now in her mid-70s and still going strong, she will be hitting the stage at the Concorde 2, along with her Vandellas, to bring a night of funk. It’s a credit to the woman herself that she still has the heart and desire to take her show across the world. There aren’t many performers who would keep going after 60 years - aside from Cliff Richard of course. If you’re in the mood to party the night away, especially after the England game, then this Concorde is where you’ll want to head for this spectacular show. Dancing in the Street is hopefully what we’ll all be doing come full-time on Saturday, but good or bad result this is something that will cheer you up no end.
