A man was taken to hospital after he suffered knife wounds to his face.

Paramedics were called to the incident at Belmont Street in Bognor at 10pm on Sunday.

A 46-year-old man was reportedly stabbed, and police were called to the scene by paramedics.

He had suffered a stab wound to his body, but police don’t yet know where the incident happened.

The victim was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he remained in a stable condition as The Argus went to print.

His injuries included a “laceration to his face” but are not considered life threatening, police said.

Detective Sergeant Alan Fenn said: "At this time, we have not been able to speak to the victim and we are trying to establish the circumstances of how and where he came to sustain his injuries.

“We believe that this may have happened between 9 and 10pm and I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a fight or an altercation in the area around this time.”
