A DRIVER has been arrested for attempted murder after a pedestrian was hit by a car on a pavement in Crawley.

A 25-year-old man was found with serious injuries in Medway Road, Gossops Green, at 6.30pm on Saturday.

He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital in London.

A black Nissan is reported to have mounted the pavement and collided with the victim, before driving off.

Detective Constable Karen Young said: “This was a very traumatic incident for the victim."

A 23-year-old man from Crawley has been released on conditional bail until 6 August pending further enquiries.
