A CROWDFUNDING page has been set up to help victims of an arson attack rediscover their dream.

Neil Hilton’s coach was burnt out at his charity, Hillview Good News Centre in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, at midnight on Saturday.

Two people, believed to be teenage boys, were caught on CCTV at the Hodshrove Lane site torching the 1991 Dennis Javelin, but no arrests have been made.

Mr Hilton had been renovating the £2,000 coach with his family and they were hoping to travel around Europe in it next year – but that dream was cruelly taken away from them.

Now Mr Hilton’s colleague, 33-year-old Sean Older, has launched a GoFundMe page to raise cash for his friend’s family to help get them back on track to their dream.

Mr Older, of Goodwood Way in Moulsecoomb, said: “A group of us met on Saturday and spoke about what happened, and ideas were thrown around about how we could help.

“What we decided to do was put a love gift together for them.

“It’s understandable people feel very raw about it.

“We are Christians and we believe in justice. We would also invite anyone who had a role in the crime to join in a conversation with us.

“This fundraiser is about helping Neil and his family rediscover their dream.”

Mr Older runs the charity, which aims to bring good news to the Moulsecoomb community, with his wife Fay, Mr Hilton and his wife Jessica.

He met Mr Hilton when they were both youth workers at churches in Sussex, and they have been making their vision of the Good News Centre come to fruition over the past three years.

The £2,500 Mr Older is aiming to raise will go towards replacing Mr Hilton’s tools that were destroyed in the blaze and get the burnt out remains of the coach and debris removed.

Mr Hilton did not have the coach insured as he kept it parked at the Good News Centre.

Mr Older wanted to make it clear the money raised is strictly for his friends rather than the charity.

He repeated what he has written on the GoFundMe page, which states: “This is a GoFundMe campaign as a gift to Neil, Jess and their children in light of their adventurous dreams of holidays-on-wheels-together being burnt out.

“It is not going towards the work of Good News Brighton or our projects.”

Anyone with information about the arson should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 110 of 14/07.
