- Adur District Council failed to reach a decision tonight on whether to approve plans for a new Ikea store and 600 new homes in Lancing.
- Hundreds of residents had packed into the public meeting to hear the debate and see if Brighton and Hove Albion's controversial scheme would be granted planning permission.
- But four hours later councillors voted to defer the decision until a later date.
- The proposals are part of the New Monks Farm development which also includes:
- A new roundabout on the A27
- A country park
- A school and community hub
