TEN Sussex firms are finalists in the South East region of a prestigious awards scheme showcasing the very best in British rural enterprise.

Now in their fourth year, the Rural Business Awards (RBAs) are the only UK-wide business awards specifically for the rural sector.

Sponsored by Amazon, the scheme has been a huge success since it started with the first award ceremony held in 2015.

The shortlisted firms from East Sussex are: • Best Rural Start Up and Best Rural Creative or Media Based Business: Konzepts Ltd, East Hoathly

• Outstanding Rural Diversification Project: Bluebell Walk Partnership, Polegate

• Best Rural Manufacturing Business: English Heritage Buildings LLP, Woods Corner

• Best Rural Professional Services Business: Batcheller Monkhouse, Battle

• Best Rural Tourism Business: The Hub, Bodiam

• Best Rural Drink Business: Bluebell Vineyard, Furners Green.

The shortlisted firms from West Sussex are: • Best Rural Retail Business: Charlie’s Farm Shop, Pulborough

• Best Rural Manufacturing Business: The Great British Porridge Co, Ferring, Worthing

• Best Rural Education or Training Business: Weald and Downland Living Museum, Singleton

• Best Rural Food Business: Trenchmore Farm, Horsham.

They will find out if they have won a top slot at a glittering ceremony on Tuesday October 23 at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking.

The successful winners at the regional finals, from the 13 award categories are put forward to the national final, which takes place in February 2019.
