BEACH-GOERS packed the pebbles for another sunsoaked weekend as the heatwave showed no sign of abating.

Temperatures hit the mid-20s again, putting Brighton on a par with Greece, and the Met Office forecast there is more sun to come.

Peter Corben, 44, of Donald Hall Road, Brighton, said: “The weather is just lovely, and the cool breeze makes it even better.

“I am originally from Portsmouth so I’ve always loved the beach.

“I saw the news and they said we will continue to have nice weather in the next few days.

“We normally don’t get this kind of weather in late July. We usually have a few days of sunshine here and there.

“This year it’s been very consistent so we have been really lucky this year.

“I am on a two-week holiday now and I plan to spend some time with friends at the seafront.

“I think I’ve booked my holidays at the right time. I really look forward to it.”

Solenn Conan, a teacher from a French English language school, Education First, said: “My colleagues and I are with our students on school trip.

“We enjoy Brighton and we love the beach.

“I’ve stayed in Cornwall before and there are sandy beaches there.

“We didn’t expect pebbles but it’s a different experience.

“We had travelled to London, Portsmouth, Oxford and the Seven Sisters before coming here. It’s nice to see people enjoying themselves and relaxing.”

Tasmin Hawes, from South London, said: “I came down here with my family to catch some sun.

“The weather hasn’t been good in the past few years and they say we haven’t had a summer like this since 1976.

“Whenever we have weather like this Brighton beach is always rammed..

“I heard the next few days will be sunny.

“Sometimes the weather forecast could be wrong, but I hope this time they are 100 per cent accurate. It’s nice to see everyone enjoying themselves too. We came here just for one day.

“Hopefully this nice spell can last longer.”
