Sussex had to endure a difficult middle session at Hove as Glamorgan fought back.

Glamorgan started a successful spell with the wicket of Tom Haines with the first ball after lunch.

The batsman was aiming to leg but only succeeded in edging Lukas Carey to Nick Selman at second slip.

At the other end, Luke Wells looked solid, and leg-glanced Michael Hogan for four to reach his fifty from 100 deliveries, with nine fours.

But the Glamorgan bowlers were on a roll and they took the third Sussex wicket at 139 when Harry Finch, driving without any foot movement, was caught behind off Hogan.

The in-form Finch had spent 32 deliveries over his single.

The innings was being held together by Wells. But just one run later he fell, hooking Hogan to long-leg for 71 from 142 balls.

Michael Burgess, dropped first ball at third slip, didn’t make the most of his reprieve and was caught behind chasing a wide one from Jeremy Lawlor for 13. And it was 171-6 when David Wiese played a wild stroke to give keeper Chris Cooke his fourth catch.
