HARRY Ramsden's has been evacuated after a banner above the shop split in two.

Two fire engines were called to a ferociously windy Marine Parade in Brighton this afternoon and the area around the shop is currently cordoned off.

A firefighter at the scene said they were removing the sign for public protection.

The aquarium roundabout was closed while the fire service took the banner down, with the road being reopened at about 3.45pm.

Pieces of the Harry Ramsden's sign were falling on the ground from above the shop.

The shop manager said they were removing people from inside.
