A RADICAL new exhibition which combines political protest with creative expression has been unveiled in Jubilee Library this week.
The New Union Jack exhibit is a tapestry where the Union flag is constructed of pieces of fabric bearing the traditional patterns of all the different people living in the United Kingdom.
Gil Mualem-Doron said he created the artwork “to challenge the attitudes of hostility towards foreigners that are on the rise”.
The artwork has been taken on political rallies, and Gil Mualem-Doron says his ultimate goal is to take the flag to parliament.
Umit Ozturk, director of the Brighton-based Euro-Mediterranean Resources Network, said: “This is a very fine and powerful artwork, and that is why we are proud to have partnered with Gil to create this exhibit.”
