AN EX-PUB owner was found hanging from a tree by his gardener.

Giles Stone, 53, was discovered by Simon Roderick on the afternoon of August 2 at his home in Bishops Road, Hove.

His inquest was opened at Brighton Coroner’s Court on Monday.

Mr Stone owned the Crown and Anchor in High Street, Shoreham, but put the pub up for sale in 2016.

He had been working as a self-employed sports investment analyst at the time of his death.

Mr Stone leaves wife Sandra and his two sons, Jack and George.

He was described as a “methodical” man during the hearing.

A provisional cause of death was recorded as suspension by the neck.

Coroner Catharine Palmer set November 22 as the date for the full inquest at Brighton Coroner’s Court.
