A TEENAGER suffered a shattered jaw after being lured to a park and attacked by a gang.
The 17-year-old from Eastbourne was on his way to meet friends when he was attacked at the end of Black Path in Polegate between 5.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday, July 31.
Police say he was the victim of a "sustained" attack by four boys, believed to be teenagers, who punched him to the head.
He suffered fractures to his jaw, and has had an operation to fit metal plates and screws to repair his injuries at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, where he remains.
Detective Constable Helen Kelly said: “The victim suffered a sustained attack by four boys, and ran away from the scene back to his home address and was very distressed.
“It appears that this was a pre-planned attack and the victim was deliberately lured to the park for the assault to take place."
She said no arrests have been made, but the inquiry continues.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote reference 919 of 05/08, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
