A DAUGHTER has issued an emotional plea in the search for her missing mother.

Police have been scouring Brighton all weekend in the search for a “vulnerable” Tiina Proffitt, 50, who went missing from her Fiveways home on Friday.

A police drone and the National Police Air Service helicopter were launched that night as part of a search to find Ms Proffitt, who police say has recently been suffering from depression.

Her disappearance is said to be out of character and her family are worried for her safety.

This image reveals Ms Proffitt was still in the area at 3pm.

The Argus:

She made two transactions at shops in Woodbourne Avenue, Hollingbury, at that time.

Her daughter, Nina, said she her mother was “not in a good frame of mind” and her behaviour was “very concerning”.

Nina posted the CCTV image on Facebook yesterday and said: “This was when my mum was last seen, in the Woodbourne Mini Market, wearing a purple jumper and tracksuit/leggings and a big purple bag.

“We’re all getting more concerned as time goes on.

“She is not in a good frame of mind at the moment and her behaviour is very concerning so if anyone has any sightings of her please, please, please call police ASAP.

“Thanks to everyone who is sharing, it means a lot.

“Please keep an eye out.

“We’re all so worried and just want her home safe.

“Share, especially if in the Patcham area. It takes two seconds to share.”

The post has been shared more than 2,500 times so far.

Abbe Boeg commented on the thread: “Nina, know that everyone is trying to find your mum.

“Believe she’ll return to you all safely and that you’ll have time ahead to focus on healing.”

Karen Richardson said: “You are in my prayers and I hope your mum turns up safe and sound.”

More searches were carried out on Saturday, with detectives looking in parks, fields, golf courses and woodland areas, but there has been no trace of Ms Proffitt.

Residents, in particular those outdoors such as cyclists and dog walkers, have been urged to keep an eye out for her by police.

They are also asking people to check sheds and outbuildings in the area.

The Argus:

Ms Proffitt has a Scandinavian accent and is white, 5ft 7in, slim, with short blonde hair in a middle parting.

She is not believed to be carrying a mobile phone.

She was last seen wearing loose fitting dark red jogging bottoms or trousers, a purple zipped hoody and dark coloured Gola trainers.

She was carrying a tote bag.

Ms Proffitt also has a spare change of clothes with her, believed to be burgundy trousers and possibly black loose-fitting trousers, similar to tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Inspector Emma Vickers, of Sussex Police, said: “We now know Tiina was still in the area at about 3pm on Friday, however, her movements beyond that point remain a mystery.

“She has not come home and her family are desperate to hear from her.

“Tiina’s disappearance is out of character and she is not believed to be in possession of a mobile phone.

“She has had poor health recently and has become depressed and has lost quite a lot of weight.

“We hope someone, somewhere, has seen her or knows where we can find her.

“Please, if you see anyone matching her description, report it online or call 101, or 999 in an emergency, quoting serial 1047 of 17/08.”
