FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a residential street this morning after a bin lorry's rubbish caught alight.

The fire started as the lorry was doing its rounds in Fairlight Avenue, Telscombe, at about 7am this morning near the road’s junction with the A259.

The rubbish caught fire and it was then dumped in the road while firefighters extinguished the flames.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue crews used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to bring the fire under control.

Emergency services left the scene shortly at about 8am, a spokesman for the fire service said.
