Plans for an extreme sport and rock festival have angered the owner of the nearby mansion.

Businessman Mike Holland, who has invested £5 million in Stanmer House, says he has three weddings planned for that weekend and is considering taking out an injunction against Brighton and Hove City Council if it allows the 20,000 spectator event to go ahead.

Rock N Ride is pencilled in for August 30 in Stanmer Park, Brighton, and will showcase snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX and mountain-biking alongside mainstream rock music.

The show will be broadcast on Channel 4 and up to 3,000 people are expected to camp in a field next to the park.

Mr Holland says he was told about the plans one month ago and could now be forced to cancel the nuptials.

He added that under the agreement with the council he has a right to "quiet enjoyment."

The policy and resources committee will decide next Thursday whether organiser Soulsports will be allowed to use the land, which is council owned.

The line-up has yet to be announced and Soulsport was unavailable for comment.
