A motorcyclist armed with a shotgun was stopped by police officers.
The man was seen riding along Elm Grove in Brighton at 11.24am on Saturday with a 12 bore shot gun strapped to his back.
The force helicopter was scrambled in order to track the man should he have made a dash for freedom.
But instead he was stopped by officers on the ground who found he was on his way to a registered shoot and was a licensed holder of the weapon.
A spokesman for Sussex police said: "We will be having further words with the man about the way he transports his guns."
