An elderly woman has been left trapped after a car and a minibus collided.

The accident happened at about 1.20pm today on the A26 at Clay Hill near the junction with Barkham Mills Road.

The road was blocked southbound as firefighters from Lewes and Uckfield worked to cut the woman free from the wreckage.

The Sussex Police and Ambulance helicopter arrived at the scene shortly before 2pm today.

Did you see what happened - Nope - and it appears neither did the drivers involved because if they had I'm guessing they would not have had the accident. If you want a cheap source of accurate reports why not ask the police for copies of witness statements. Oh that's right they can't give out such information (and rightly so) so it looks like you're left with a lost reporter and a rather poor story. I do however hope that the lady, now released, is not too badly hurt and makes a speedy and full recovery.

why didn't the firefighters cut her out, that's really cruel leaving a poor old lady trapped in a car, after an accident like that. I'm writing to my MP
