Dozens of firefighters battled for hours against a blaze in a farm warehouse.

At least six engines were called to the farm in Thakeham, near Pulborough at about 6pm on Wednesday.

One hour later 40% of the 40m by 10m storage shed was well alight. It is understood the shed contained numerous inflammable chemicals.

Crews made steady progress but replacement firefighters were called in to cover for those exhausted from battling the colossal flames, including 16 who donned breathing apparatus.

Crews remained at the scene well into the night as they battled to bring the flames under control and make the area safe.

It is not clear how the fire started.

Did you see the fire? Did you take any photos? Leave your comments below.

I am the owner of the property. The facts are:-
The fire was discovered at around 5.45pm. It was started by a spark from a small bonfire which set light to a large log pile next to the back of the warehouse. This caught the end of the building alight and it spread very quickly through the end 2 bays. There were no chemicals on site, just large amounts of packaging materials which ignited very quickly. There were about 8 fire crews from various areas including, Littlehampton, Findon, Crawley, Storrington, Horsham, etc.. and the road was closed until early morning. Two Fire crews remained at the scene overnight and are still here now at 12.44pm, damping down and ensuring the scene is safe.
I can be contacted by email, ma.giaco@virgin.net if you would like any more info, better to come from me than for people to make there own minds up about what happened.. (ie.. It is understood the shed contained numerous inflammable chemicals) There were none.
I would like to thank the fire crews who did a fantastic job.
I have photos available.
