Faulty traffic lights signal long delays

Comments (16)Drivers are experiencing long delays after a car crashed into traffic lights, knocking them out.
The accident happened at about 7am this morning on the A27 at the Sussex Pad junction at Shoreham.
Officers from Sussex Police have sealed off the westbound filter lane for Shoreham Airport while investigations are carried out and the area is made safe.
The lights are currently out of order and long delays are expected.

How on earth can you crash into traffic lights on that part of the road? Were they drunk, speeding or just plain stupid? These are the drivers that should be banned for a long time - get them off the road.
Lets now wait for the complaints about the Police shutting bits of the road.

I reckon the best solution is to get rid of the bloody things altogether. The whole of the A27 has to grind to a shuddering halt just so two cars can come from Coombs and three from the airfield (which can be accessed from the A259 anyway). There's a roundabout at each end of that stretch, at Holmbush and Lancing Manor, so just make those cars filter left and turn round at the roundabout. Much safer.

Too many people go fast at those lights to try and get through before they change - and no I am not dumb but I do know it all!!

Perhaps you ought to stop slating the driver until you are in posession of facts and not just your own little made up ideas about what might have happened.

and he or she probably hit the control box, not the actual traffic lights, which is usually positioned in a really inconvenient location close by.
