People have been warned to check their cash as a flood of fake £20 notes spreads across Sussex.
The forgeries have turned up at shops across the county, mainly in large towns and cities.
Bognor in particular has seen a large number of the notes.
PC Mark Limberry, of Bognor police, said the number of notes seized so far is believed to addup to several thousand pounds.
He encouraged shopkeepers to use their UV lights to detect the fakes and said that while the ones he had seen were good quality forgeries, they could be easily spotted as the paper they are printed on has no raised writing.
PC Limberry said that if people knowingly try to spend a fake note they will be prosecuted.
Anyone who finds a note or who has any information should call police on 0845 60 70 999.
