Two men were led away in handcuffs after a man was hospitalised in a brawl at a house party.

Shocked neighbours looked on as officers arrived in eight police cars to calm the fracas at a house in Buckingham Street, Brighton, shortly after 5am today.

The victim was carried out on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Eye-witnesses said he had head injuries but South East Coast Ambulance Service said it was unable to confirm.

A spokeswoman said the victim had fallen down some steps.

One neighbour said: "I saw the police arrest two men and take three others away in a van. There were a lot of officers down there. I haven't seen anything like it in this road before."

The road was sealed off until late morning as scene of crime investigators carried out work at the house.

Sussex Police said investigations were ongoing and officers were waiting to speak to the victim.

The message above was in response to my warning about pikeys invading the area again, but sadly it has been removed

Perhaps someone could explain why?

As their deplorable driveway work caused over £20000 worth of damage to the structure of my property I thought it was a valid comment, even if slightly off topic.

You let some cowboys loose on your driveway? I take it you are a vulnerable OAP or are mentally retarded and they took advantage of you?
Or did they do the work without asking while you were on holiday?

An vulnerable OAP I must be, but not mentally retarded I can assure you. Its easy to be taken in by these peoples assurances. They are so cruel doing this. They know what they are doing. Why are they allowed to be here. Why is it allowed.

Mrs Jones

There is very little the authorities can do. These people are not tradesmen so not governed by any controlling body, and are just roaming around the country knocking on peoples doors looking for easy money. None or very few will have had any training in construction or building work, despite what they may tell you, and will tempt easy targets into accepting low quoted prices, which usually bear little resemblence to that demanded later on.
The golden rule is NEVER ever talk to anyone that knocks on your door offering to pave or tarmac your driveway, or offers to fix your roof which they 'just happened to notice is faulty'. NO PROPER TRADESMAN WILL KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR ASKING FOR WORK. And likewise dont have your garden rubbish cleared by them, because they will dump it in the nearest car park 10 mins later, having of course had a good look around your property for anything else of interest.

Its essentially greed for the 'bargain job' that allows these people to exist, so if you realise that and dont give them any work of any kind, they will go somewhere else.

Use local tradesman with proper offices addresses and phone numbers you can check up on, and get a few quotes.
