A town's only sixth form is to shut down despite protests from parents and pupils.
MP Norman Baker said the decision by Seaford Head Community College to end post-16 education had consigned a generation of teenagers to the "B League".
College principal Lynton Golds said the move had been necessary because falling numbers had made the sixth form unviable.
But Mr Baker, whose constituency includes Seaford, said: "This puts Seaford in the B League. It's difficult to see how a town of that size, with 25,000 people, cannot support a sixth form when somewhere like Ringmer can."
