Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a bank.

A man carrying what was believed to have been a gun walked into Barclays in High Street, Henfield, just before 2.30pm today.

He demanded money in front of shocked staff and customers.

Police say he was handed an unknown quantity of cash before he left the bank, walking towards the library.

No one was injured in the incident.

Officers investigating the robbery are currently searching the area and are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 6070999.
