Sussex will be buffeted by heavy rain and strong winds today as the first major storm of the autumn gets under way.

Parts of the UK have been warned to expect more than two weeks of rainfall in 24 hours, and forecasters say there is a risk of localised flooding across the country.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the region until this evening.

excuse me, but when I'm jogging on the seafront, wet and windy is my FAVOURITE kind of weather - less bloody cyclists trying to run me over, less dogs off leads biting my ankles, less dust off the beach, less bloody lighter fuel fumes from hippies with barbecues, etc etc

Yes I have been affected by the weather.
I have had to wear a raincoat and have got a little wet while smoking outside the pub.

Did you know that in Insurance terms before being able to claim for storm damage to your property a storm is classified as: An unusual weather event, persistent high winds, heavy rain or snow storm, generally but not necessarily, accompanied by strong winds, usually gust exceeding 45 knots

for those of you who are unsure summer officially occurred on 17th June at 11.14am when there was a partial break in the clouds and the sun came through for approximately 9 seconds.

Do they honestly call this a storm?

A bit of wind and rain hardly means a storm. Even the suposed "hurricaine" of 89 (was it 89?) was only a storm, so how can this be a storm?

We do like to over exaggerate dont we.

Stormy weather is great, if I don't have to go out. Even then I can dress accordingly. Autumn is not here yet, it's only a bit of wind and rain, nothing to worry about.
