A windmill made famous by television detective Jonathan Creek is undergoing renovation.
Two of the four sails, also known as sweeps, of Shipley Windmill, near Horsham, have been removed for repair.
They will be restored and painted before being lifted back on to the windmill.
Jim Woodward-Nutt, who runs the windmill, said: “Windmill sails are the most susceptible part of the mill because they’re out in the weather. They need repairs to the timber that is going round. In the meantime the windmill can work on just two sails.”
The windmill was built in 1879, with the sails most recently being restored in 1989.
It is most famous for its use as the home of Jonathan Creek between 1997 and 2004. The windmill is shown in 22 episodes of the hit BBC series starring Alan Davies.
It has since become popular with fans of the programme. Shipley has also appeared in a number of shows about the countryside.
A small team of volunteers will be carrying out the renovation work, which will take several months.
Mr Woodward-Nutt said: “We have a small number of volunteers and would welcome anybody else who might want to help.
“Our team will be starting work on the sails immediately and it may well be that we need to take the other two off after we have finished with the first pair.”
Shipley Windmill is open to the public on the first, second and third Sunday of each month from April to October.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the work should call David or Gill French on 01403 730439.
