Jordan in court for speeding in Carden Avenue, Brighton

3:58pm Friday 21st November 2008

Former glamour girl Katie Price may court the lenses of the paparazzi but she is accused of being slightly less forthcoming when snapped at the wheel of her car.

The racy model, best known to lads’ mag readers as Jordan, was allegedly caught on camera speeding in a Brighton street and is due to stand trial next year, The Argus can reveal.

While no detail of her physique or rollercoaster personal life has been spared public scrutiny in the past, prosecutors claim she failed to reveal all when they asked her who was driving at the time.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed she had been charged with breaking a 30mph speed limit in Carden Avenue, Brighton, on April 9.

She is also accused of failing to supply information about the identity of the driver of the car.

She did not appear in court for her first hearing on November 7.

A trial date has been set for Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 7 next year.

The 30-year-old was cleared of similar charges in 2003 when police did not act on a warrant to arrest her within 12 weeks of the date she was due to be sentenced.

She had already been convicted without appearing in court but that was quashed because she had not been brought to court within the Crown Prosecution Service’s time limit.

Her husband, Peter Andre, was banned from driving for six months in 2005 after being convicted of driving at 49mph in a 30mph zone in King George VI Avenue, Hove.

Magistrates placed five points on his licence which, added to the eight he had already received for driving without insurance, took him over the threshold of 12 penalty points for a ban. He was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £35 costs.

At the time of her last speeding case Ms Price was living in Poynings.

She has since moved to Surrey.

She hit the headlines again this year after setting out her ambition to compete for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympic showjumping competition.

She performed at the Horse of the Year show in October with a dressage performance to the sound of her husband’s biggest hit, Mysterious Girl.
