A teacher charged with filming up women’s skirts has also been accused of spying on female students in the toilets of a Brighton college.

Yesterday a judge banned James Parke, 40 from having a mobile phone or any video or recording equipment in public while he waits for his committal to crown court.

Parke was arrested after a man was seen by security staff filming up women’s skirts in Churchill Square, Brighton.

He is now also alleged to have secretly filmed female students in the toilets at Brighton, Hove and Sussex VI Form College (BHASVIC).

Parke, who was a media studies teacher at the college, resigned from his post after his arrest in September.

He did not enter a plea on charges of voyeurism and outraging public decency when he appeared before District Judge Graham Parsons at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Parke sat with his head in his hands fighting back tears at the back of the court as he waited for his case to be called.

It is alleged that he committed lewd and obscene acts which outraged public decency in Brighton between September 2, 2006, and September 1, 2008, by taking “up-skirt” pictures.

He is also charged with voyeurism between January 1 and September 1 at BHASVIC.

It is alleged he “recorded persons doing private things with the intention of looking at recorded images for the purpose of sexual gratification”.

Edmund Fish, defending, said Parke would not enter a plea and asked for the case to be committed to crown court.

Parke, of Kingscote Way, Brighton, was given bail until the committal hearing takes place at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on February 6.

District Judge Parsons banned him from going to BHASVIC or any other educational establishment until then.

He must not teach anyone under the age of 18.
