Tesco is to install two 10m wind turbines in one of its superstore car parks.
Adur District Council has approved the plan for the shopping giant to erect the energy generators at the Holmbush Centre in Shoreham.
Power from the six kilowatt turbines, which each have six blades mounted on a steel column, will be fed directly into the store.
The council received nine letters from nearby residents objecting fearing the turbines would increase noise pollution and affect views across the car park to the South Downs area of outstanding national beauty.
