Motorists warned to avoid A259 at Ovingdean and A24 at Washington

5:15pm Friday 9th January 2009

Motorists have been warned that the westbound carriageway of the A259 at Ovingdean has been closed following a crash.

And a broken down bus is reported to be causing traffic chaos on the A24 just north of Findon.

The vehicle, which is stuck at the Washington roundabout, is believed to be causing traffic to build up behind it as vehicles struggle to flow over the roundabout.

At Ovingdean, two cars collided along the busy stretch of road at around 4.30pm, causing traffic to build up behind the accident.

One driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The eastbound carriageway remains open while police clear the scene.

Engineers from Brighton and Hove City Council have also been called to deal with exposed wires on a lamppost that was damaged in the crash.
