Sex shop opposer's moral win in Worthing

Sex shop opposer's moral win Sex shop opposer's moral win

Veteran morals crusader Steve Stevens is claiming victory after a controversial sex shop closed.

But he faces a new fight because adult goods chain Pillow Talk plans to take over the vacant shop next week.

Secret Desires in Rowlands Road, Worthing, was cleared of stock just weeks before councillors were due to hear a fourth application for a new licence.

Three previous bids had been thrown out.

Mr Stevens, 89, of Rowlands Road, said of the new shop: "I will campaign against it of course.

"I think they would be very ill-advised to try to do anything in this town."

Tony Gonzalez, of Pillow Talk, said: "Hopefully we should be up and running by the middle of next week."

Of course you will Mr Stevens.I would be surprised if you didn't.
You have been beating your moral stick upon the people of Worthing for years.
You seem to believe that everyone should be living their life based upon what you believe to be the moral standard set out by your own beliefs.
Why don't you take a well earned rest from your cruisading, and let the people of Worthing decide what is best for them.I'm sure a shop selling items that you personally don't approve of will not turn the Town into the den of iniquity your comments over the years suggest.
It's likely these independent shops will be shortlived anyway in the current economic climate,so you're probably getting your knickers in a twist needlessly.
Go and enjoy the good things the town has to offer.Take a walk along the prom or in one of the parks.Chill out Mr Stevens.

Shops in worthing used to sell hard boiled sweets by the once but I didn't like them so I didn't go in to these places. Why doesn't Mr Stevens shut up? At 89 years old he should find something else to do with the few measly years he has left, I bet he browses through the catalogues and pauses at the lingerie section like every other silly little boy in the world. Weirdo.

This is the same Mr Stevens that had no concerns hijacking the rememberance Parade in Worthing last year for his own end and how was making himslef out to be a poppy seller in the town when all he was doing was peddling his views to all those who approached him to buy a poppy but were dictated to by him to his own ends. The man only has morals when it suits him.

my thoughts exactly. how can one person be allowed to ruin someones livelihood. this man is a LOONY. live and let live. don't push your ideas onto everyone else because you don't like it. you cannot stop adult shops springing up every where, because many people frequent them. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T GO IN.

All thats happened is the shop owner has sold up to a retail chain of sex shops, result larger companys can afford barristers to kick the councils collective butt and they will get their licence. As for those who dont like/approve of such shops dont give them your custom.Oh as for those of you who think the current financial situation will cut trade to these shops Im afraid that anything to do with rumpy-pumpy will always turn a profit QED.

If Steve Stevens has time on his hands instead of making himself look an idiot, he should fight for better policing on the streets of Worthing. On the other hand sex shops are not going to retaliate like muggers, drug- dealers and other criminals. I supposed this man is looking for the easy life and publicity.

Guys. Don't mention the 'S' word. If he's reading these he'll be overcome with an attack of the vapours, and have to be brought round with a heavy dose of the ol' smelling salts. He's a very old man.It could prove fatal.
