Water lorry falls in hole in Worthing

A heavy water jet lorry tending to a blocked sewer reversed into a roadside hole yesterday.

A 100-ton crane was called to recover the Southern Water vehicle at the East Worthing Wastewater Treatment Works in Meadow Road.

A Southern Water spokesman said: "The driver and passenger were unhurt.

"We will begin investigations to find out what caused the void to form, before making the necessary repairs."

The site is working as usual.

It's not like it was on the road it was on a Southern Water Site.

I see potholes in the roads around here the same size as that.

The driver behind must think i'm drunk seeing me swerving to avoid the craters.

first thing is suspend the driver as there could have been anything behind him and he didnt even bother to look, secondly make him take his hgv test again as he is obviously an incompetent driver.idiot.and suspended without pay.

From the article - it implies the hole formed as he drove over it - i.e. something had undercut the roadside. A non-story really...

Clearly this accident was the fault of rogue cyclists, riding on the pavement.

First thing to do when replying to an article is to check your facts before spurting off and sounding like a judgemental idiot.

Was it a stunt?

Are Southern Water trying to tell us something? Maybe they need some more money and they want a stunt like this to prove 'voids' can happen anywhere, and we are going to pay for it.

Try cycling up Baker Street in Brighton and you will see some holes.
It's like the Albion defence along there.

May be you mean the McCan millions, money raised to find Maddy, but nearly £1,000,000 still in the bank today (ref Wednesdays Daily Mail)
